DEFENSE & AEROSPACE
Pentagon focuses on industrial base challenges impacting satellite programs.
Initially thought to be pandemic-related, supply chain issues are uncovering deeper vulnerabilities in the U.S. defense industrial base. Efforts are underway to bolster manufacturing capabilities, including pushing non-traditional providers to help scale production. Read more
USAF seeks backup for GPS amid rising EW threats.
With adversaries jamming signals and targeting satellites, the Air Force has launched an alt-PNT project to develop resilient positioning, navigation, and timing systems, including satellites in varied orbits. In September, four companies were selected to compete to develop Resilient GPS solutions. Under this endeavor, the US Space Force intends to launch eight small satellites by 2028. Read more
Hypersonics: DOD aims for speed and strategy.
In the coming years, the Joint Requirements Oversight Council aims to advance hypersonic weapons development through the next stages, termed "hypersonics 2.0" and "hypersonics 3.0," focusing on refining joint operational concepts and integration strategies. Read more

With threats ranging from hackers targeting critical control units in trucks to systemic supply chain disruptions, the principles outlined emphasize safety, OT data protection, and the importance of segmenting OT from other networks. Report highlights gaps in HHS enforcement of health data privacy.
The HHS OIG is urging the Office for Civil Rights to strengthen its HIPAA compliance audit program. Recommendations include enhanced oversight to protect sensitive healthcare data. OCR agrees—but implementation remains a work in progress.
