DISA’s Olympus pilot will be delivered this September.
Olympus provides two core services to DOD cloud users—shared services needed for any cloud environment to be successful, and the management of that environment. As a service-agnostic platform, Olympus supports integration with various tools and systems such as Vulcan for software development and Stratus. Additionally, DISA is looking to host the OLYMPUS platform on all four of the cloud service providers under JWCC. Read more
SPACECOM wants a common operational picture: Data fusion pilot is on its way.
SPACECOM is launching a pilot project to demonstrate how data fusion can be used to make a common picture for enhanced command and control capabilities. The idea is to set up a pilot that can provide results “over a reasonable amount of time” and for “a reasonable cost,” although SPACECOM’s leader is “still waiting to get that POAM [plan of action and milestones] back of what that time will be and what it’s going to cost.” Read more

Will Collins Aerospace back out of its NASA spacesuit contract?
Collins Aerospace could withdraw from making NASA spacesuits for the International Space Station astronauts. This development poses challenges as NASA grapples with aging spacewalking suits. The deal was part of the $3.5 billion awarded to both Collins and Axiom Space in 2022 for the ISS and future moon mission’s extravehicular mobility units. Read more
Medicaid’s Deloitte-run system is plagued with errors.
Deloitte promotes itself as the industry leader in building sophisticated and efficient systems for states that, among other things, screen who is eligible for Medicaid. However, one investigation of eligibility systems found widespread problems. Deloitte dominates this important slice of government business: Twenty-five states have awarded it eligibility systems contracts — with 53 million Medicaid enrollees in those states. Deloitte’s contracts are worth at least $5 billion. Read more
DHS report: Priorities in combating AI-fueled chemical and biological threats.
DHS has released a report aimed at reducing the ways AI could make the chemical and biological threats problem worse. The document contains a number of new recommendations focused on AI safety. These include promoting the use of additional credentialing for high-risk scientific databases and establishing standards for “alarming responses” from big language models. Read more
