Raytheon boosts AMRAAM’s range “significantly,” mostly with software changes.
Raytheon and the USAF tested the AIM-120 AMRAAM missile (AIM-120D variant) from an F-22 and achieved its longest known air-to-air shot yet, extending its time of flight largely through software, battery, and launch-profile improvements. These upgrades don’t require new pilot training and are already being built into production models, boosting AMRAAM’s lethality and keeping pace with threat weapons.
DOD research official wants to have AI on every desktop in 6 to 9 months.
The Pentagon plans to deploy AI tools on every desktop—about 3 million workstations—focusing on corporate efficiency as well as intelligence and warfighting applications. With its AI office (CDAO) now restructured under the Under Secretary for Research & Engineering, the department is shifting toward a stronger research-driven strategy while rethinking how AI is deployed across operations.
