The Space Force is rolling out a "reserve" program, recruiting commercial space firms to provide rapid-response capabilities in times of conflict. In return, companies get extended funding periods, access to high-level threat intel, and a chance to join Pentagon wargames. Embraer facing production “gap” at Florida-based A-29 facility.

Embraer is hunting for new A-29 Super Tucano orders to keep its American final assembly line humming, with 2025 seen as a critical year to parry back a production gap. Embraer set up an A-29 final assembly line in Jacksonville in 2013 to produce the plane for US military and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers, most prominently for Afghan Air Force pilots trained by US troops. AeroVironment unveils versatile drone for evolving battlefield conditions.

AeroVironment recently unveiled an uncrewed electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft system being pitched for the US Army’s long-range reconnaissance program. Called the P550, the platform has a modular design supporting rapid adaptation to evolving battlefield conditions. It can be reconfigured on the field for various tasks from reconnaissance to strike missions—without any external tools. Read more

TSA to allow mobile diver’s licenses after REAL ID goes into effect.

The TSA is moving to allow travelers to continue using mobile driver’s licenses to verify their identities at airport security checkpoints after enforcement of REAL ID compliant documentation goes into effect next year. TSA said it was establishing a temporary process that would allow states to apply for waivers of certain REAL ID requirements for mobile driver’s licenses (mDLs) after enforcement of the higher security standards begins on May 7, 2025. One FDA: Refreshed IT plan is budget conscious.

The FDA’s refreshed annual IT strategy puts forth a budget-conscious infrastructure modernization plan it calls “One FDA,” CIO Vid Desai said. “If we can make our IT dollars go further, it benefits everybody across the agency,” he said. The strategy features six main goals targeted by FY27. Read more

WH announces $1 billion in funding to modernize airport terminals.
