Northrop Grumman’s B-21 Raider stealth bomber is not subject to the Title 10 waiver requirement for low-rate initial production purchases exceeding 10 percent of total production for a Major Defense Acquisition Program (MDAP). “Concurrency,” buying production aircraft before they finish operational testing, is decades-old and reached a high pitch at the time of Air Force plans for the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, the forerunner to the B-21. How journalists smuggled out the iconic Tiananmen Square photo.

The shot is iconic: an unidentified man in a white shirt, hands full of bags, facing off against a column of tanks on Beijing’s Avenue of Eternal Peace. The photo and footage of the so-called “tank man” became the defining image of the Tiananmen Square crackdown whose 35th anniversary passed on Tuesday. Just how long have we been trying to get federal approval for MDMA? (Spoiler: For a long, LONG time.)

An FDA advisory committee held a public hearing this week to weigh the evidence on MDMA therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder, casting a non-binding vote against approving the treatment — indicating strong odds that the FDA will follow suit in their official determination, and setting a handful of precedents for efforts to legalize other psychedelics that are close behind. The FDA’s decision is slated to arrive by August 11, and if MDMA therapy is approved, it will mark the true beginning of the end of the psychedelic prohibition that’s stifled research since 1970.
