FedRAMP 2026 Initiatives

FedRAMP’s FY25 laid the groundwork for a sweeping overhaul of federal cloud security. After enduring long authorization cycles and backlog crushes, FedRAMP pivoted toward automation, launching its 20x initiative, completing 13 pilot authorizations, and reducing Rev5 reviews to under 30 days. It also introduced new standards, such as SCN (Significant Change Notifications), MAS (Minimum Assessment Standard), ADS (Authorization Data Sharing), and VDR (Vulnerability Detection & Response), for Rev5 modernization. In FY26, the focus turns to broad adoption: opening the 20x path, scaling agency uptake, and retiring legacy Rev5 paths.
