Army is hoping for a big new drone by 2028.

The Army is developing a new Group 4 vertical takeoff and landing (SVTOL) drone to fill the gap between small tactical UAS and larger aircraft, providing longer range, heavier payloads, and runway-independent operations. Officials say the effort is focused on rapid prototyping and flexibility, allowing the Army to adapt the platform quickly for reconnaissance, logistics, or strike missions.
