Teledyne FLIR Defense inked a $91 million United States Army Black Hornet 4 Personal Reconnaissance Systems contract.
The deal is a part of the Phase II of the Soldier Borne Sensor (SBS) program, which seeks to improve the surveillance and reconnaissance abilities of small military units.
The initial $25 million order consists of the first set of Black Hornet 4 drones, along with controllers, spare parts, and operator training. This nano-unmanned aerial system (UAS) is portable, rapidly deployable, and can transmit real-time video and images to its operator, enhancing soldiers' situational awareness while reducing their risk of exposure to threats.
