The Decision Advantage Sprint for Human-Machine Teaming (DASH) showed how AI can help Airmen and Guardians make faster decisions while accelerating delivery of new command-and-control capabilities. The two-week experiment brought together operators, developers, and industry partners in a plug-and-play environment designed to quickly transition proven tools to operational networks.
NIH funds DOD research: A surprising budget crossover.
The NIH and DOD have signed a 10-year agreement that could shift a portion of NIAID’s $6.6 billion budget toward biodefense and pandemic-related research. Reports suggest the transfer could reach roughly 10% of NIAID funding, raising questions on Capitol Hill about priorities, oversight, and why one agency is paying for research the other can already afford.
Pentagon asks Congress to shift $1.5B to AI center and MV-75 tiltrotor.
The Pentagon submitted a reprogramming request to Congress to reroute nearly $1.5 billion across FY25 and FY26 accounts, with AI infrastructure and the MV-75 Cheyenne tiltrotor as the top two recipients. The Army is seeking $230 million in FY26 and $120 million in FY25 for MV-75 RDT&E to stave off a stop-work order from prime contractor Textron. Without congressional approval, Textron could halt work, delaying prototypes and fielding. The AI center is labeled an urgent modernization priority.

The FBI released a 17-page unclassified cyber strategy built around four pillars: disrupting adversaries, supporting victims, deepening industry partnerships, and building a stronger cyber workforce. Previous FBI cyber strategies were either classified or threat-specific. The Cyber Division head also announced "Secure 2027," a new initiative to harden critical infrastructure ahead of a potential Chinese action against Taiwan.
SPACECOM completes Apollo Maneuvers 2026 across LEO, MEO, and GEO orbits.
USSPACECOM completed Apollo Maneuvers 2026, moving satellites across low-, medium-, and geosynchronous Earth orbit to test more dynamic space operations and develop future maneuver-warfare doctrine. The exercise also incorporated allied and commercial partners as SPACECOM explores how greater satellite maneuverability could improve survivability and give U.S. forces an operational advantage in contested space.

NASA Moon Base plans open new contracting frontier.
NASA just shared new details on its $20 billion Moon Base strategy, and industry is doing much more than watching from the launchpad. The agency plans 25 launches and 21 lunar landings through the first phase, relying heavily on contractors including Blue Origin, Astrobotic, Firefly Aerospace, Astrolab, and Lunar Outpost.
Commercial space growth: DOT launches new SPACE task force.
The DOT launched a new SPACE Task Force to coordinate commercial space policy, with priorities including expanding launch infrastructure, streamlining regulations, improving airspace integration, and accelerating spaceport development. The effort is aimed at supporting a projected surge in FAA-licensed launches and reentries.
POTUS signs EO to end 90-180 day military records transfer delays for veterans.
Military records currently take 90 to 180 days to transfer from DOD to VA when service members separate, which causes delays in healthcare, benefits, and job training. A new E.O. also directs the agencies to review IT contracts for interoperability requirements and deploy AI and other emerging technologies within 180 days to streamline veterans’ benefits applications.
