ODNI has unveiled the Intelligence Community Policy Framework for Commercially Available Information. This is essential in their job, but it also raises new concerns about privacy and civil liberties. Read more

ODNI and DIU collaborate to give national security an upgrade.

EPA is “on target” to complete the process for cybersecurity risk assessment.

The cyber risk assessment process—recommended to the EPA in a July 2019 GAO report—is on track to be finished “by November 22.” The EPA spokesperson said that updates to the agency’s enterprise risk assessment procedure would include a variety of additional performance metrics, citing logging maturity, strong authentication, critical vulnerability remediation and priority security control specifically. Private equity management firm Bernhard Capital Partners has purchased Apogee Engineering, which provides platforms and services across cybersecurity, technology modernization, integration, and program management to federal customers. Read more

N-Able explores sale.

A provider of IT software with a market value of about $2.5 billion is exploring a sale after attracting acquisition interest. The company, which counts two private equity firms—Silver Lake and Thoma Bravo—as major investors, is running a sale process in which peers in the software sector and private equity firms are participating. N-Able was spun out in 2021 from management software firm SolarWinds, which had been, in turn, acquired by Silver Lake and Thoma Bravo for $4.5 billion in 2016. Read more
