The high-altitude reconnaissance planes are flying missions along with RC-135 Rivet Joint signals intelligence aircraft and drones. IRS is evaluating its tech investments and modernization.
The IRS is undertaking a “strategic re-assessment” of its modernization strategy, projects, and investments, including Direct File. An agency representative cited a changing tech environment as a reason for the reevaluation, saying that the IRS tried to move away from legacy coding languages a decade ago as a “risk mitigation strategy” as the number of people proficient in them dwindled.
