The SDA’s Dragoon satellite hit orbit and full ops in just four days—months faster than legacy timelines. It’s the first of 12 in Tranche 1, designed to test tech for a future constellation of hundreds. SDA’s spiral model could be the blueprint for faster, smarter space acquisitions.

Army “considering terminating” General Dynamics’ oversight of new 155mm production lines.

The U.S. Army has issued a “show cause” letter indicating it may terminate General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems’ management of three newly established 155mm artillery shell production lines in Texas, due to concerns over performance and oversight issues. Army leadership is considering finding a replacement or restructuring the contract to restore progress and accountability.

Growing commercial launch activity highlights the need for better cost recovery.

For the past three decades, the DOD has employed various acquisition approaches to secure military satellite launches from commercial vendors. Its latest strategy—Phase 3—addresses the department’s shifting and expanding needs for launch capabilities and supporting infrastructure.

DOJ: North Korean IT workers used fake identities to secure jobs at 100+ US companies.

According to the DOJ, North Korean IT workers used stolen identities from over 80 Americans to fraudulently secure remote jobs at more than 100 U.S. companies—including several Fortune 500 firms. In doing so, they accessed and stole sensitive data, including export-controlled military technology.

SBA launches audit of 8(a) contracting program.

The SBA is reviewing 15 years of high-value, limited-competition 8(a) contracts following a DOJ investigation into alleged misconduct. The audit aims to strengthen oversight, ensure accountability, and assess whether program safeguards are keeping pace with federal contracting standards.

OPM prepares for an overhaul of a federal workforce data platform.

OPM is preparing a major upgrade of its FedScope federal workforce data platform, introducing a refreshed interface with interactive visuals, expanded datasets, and tools tailored to answer commonly asked questions about federal employment. The modernization will roll out in phases, with iterative improvements already underway. It is expected to culminate in a fully redesigned system this fall.

NASA’s cyber defenses fall short, GAO urges action.

GAO found NASA’s cybersecurity risk management is missing key steps—like having an approved org-wide risk assessment and proper monitoring strategies. With spacecraft operating in a high-threat environment, the agency’s partial compliance could mean full-blown trouble.

TransDigm acquires Simmonds from RTX in $765M cash deal.

TransDigm is shelling out $765 million to acquire Simmonds Precision Products from RTX—bringing fuel sensing, proximity tech, and structural health monitoring into its portfolio. With 900 employees and $350M in projected revenue, Simmonds adds serious aftermarket muscle to TransDigm’s aerospace playbook.

Parsons acquires Chesapeake Technologies International (CTI) for $89M.

CTI strengthens Parsons’ defense customer posture with the Special Operations forces and enhances Parsons’ position in the INDOPACOM area of operations. CTI brings extensive capabilities as an all-domain technology solutions provider, powered by products that enhance the warfighters’ ability to sense, evaluate and deliver effects within the invisible battlespaces.
