Budgetary limbo could cost the Navy $26B in missing or ‘misaligned’ funds.

Up to one-tenth of the Navy and Marine Corps’ planned 2024 funding will be cut or constrained if Congress can’t pass a budget. If Congress doesn’t pass funding bills by the New Year, government agencies could be forced to make sequestration cuts. That means if there’s still a continuing resolution on Jan. 1, 2024, the Pentagon will have to operate at 2023 budget levels minus 1 percent. The caps are lifted once permanent funding is passed. Did you know that glass is weirder than you knew?

There’s a myth about glass: If you go to a church that’s hundreds of years old and look at the glass windows, you’ll find that the panes are thicker at the bottom of the frame than at the top. That’s because, according to lore, glass is actually a liquid, just one that flows very slowly. It’s true that glass does have some liquid-like properties. But remarkably, rather than flow, glass doesn’t move very much at all.
