DEFENSE & AEROSPACE
AeroVironment adjusts outlook following termination of SCAR program.
AeroVironment is recalibrating after the USSF terminated its $1.4B SCAR contract, citing an inability to reach new terms. The company cut its revenue outlook, logged a $151M impairment, and watched its stock dip nearly 10%. Still, leadership insists the Badger antenna tech is ahead of the field, and the company could be back for the recompete.
DOD oversight: GAO urges formal review of external CMMC risks.
A new GAO report finds that while DOD has largely outlined a strategy for CMMC, it has not fully assessed external risks, including assessor capacity and the cost burden on small contractors. GAO warns that relying on waivers to manage these gaps could undermine the program’s long‑term credibility and its goal of verifying contractor cybersecurity.
Army expands the use of enterprise contracts to drive consolidation and efficiency.
The Army is expanding the use of enterprise contracts to strengthen buying power, consolidating 118 separate agreements into 14, an 88% reduction that officials say streamlines acquisition and reduces administrative burden. The approach aims to modernize procurement, lower costs, and ensure consistent terms while maintaining competition across requirements.
