Gov't facilities were last year's 3rd-biggest ransomware target, says FBI.
Government facilities were the third largest critical infrastructure sector targeted by ransomware attacks in 2023, according to cybercrime statistics released by the FBI; the agency unveiled the findings in its annual report that unpacks complaints, financial losses, and other metrics used to determine the severity of cybercrime activities reported to federal authorities. How DOE's FITARA scorecard went from 'F' to 'A'.
When FITARA was first launched, the Education Department received a big fat “F” on its scorecard – in December 2019, the agency rose to an “A” on FITARA 9.0 and held steady with a “B” grade for the next six iterations of the scorecard.
