Striking with style: Army receives first long-range Precision Strike Missiles.
The first Precision Strike Missiles will begin replacing the legacy Army Tactical Missile System. The fancy new missile can launch from both the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System and the M270A2 Multiple Launch Rocket System. The Army is planning add-ons, including an enhanced seeker as well as technology to provide increased lethality and extended range. Read more
U.S. Space Force activates new unit to support operations in Europe and Africa.
The U.S. Space Force activated its first component dedicated to both Europe and Africa. The new unit, known as U.S. Space Forces Europe and Africa, will support U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command. Based at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, the Space Force component will be led by U.S. Space Force Col. Max Lantz and staffed by approximately 30 service members. Read more

FBI to rethink troubled IT services contract.
The FBI’s effort to field a series of blanket purchase agreements for IT services has apparently run into enough trouble that the agency is now reworking parts of the procurement. The agency already has taken several corrective actions after facing protests by ManTech International, IntelliBridge and BAQ Solutions that mainly dealt with pricing. Read more

The White House’s top management leader says it’s time to retire the saying, “It’s good enough for government work.” As the two-year anniversary of the customer experience executive order nears on Dec. 13, Jason Miller, the deputy director for management at OMB, challenged agency CX leaders to reject that line of thinking. SSA demands money back from more than twice as many people as the agency said originally told Congress.
SSA has long quantified overpayments in dollars rather than numbers of people affected. For example, the agency’s latest annual financial report says it recovered more than $4.9 billion in overpayments in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30 and ended that period with a cumulative uncollected overpayment balance of $23 billion. But how many debtors does that value involve? SSA won’t say, but a FOIA request reveals: two million people per year. Read more
