USPS health insurance marketplace launch gives OPM plenty to do in a busy 2023.

The Postal Service Reform Act requires OPM to set up a separate insurance marketplace for USPS employees and retirees within the Federal Employee Health Benefits program by January 2025. As it prepares for an open enrollment in late 2024, OPM officials are prioritizing this project. Read more

OPM makes no progress with retirement backlog to start 2023.

OPM started 2023 with a rise in its retirement claims processing backlog by 3,262. In January, OPM received 12,404 claims, an almost 7,000 increase compared to December. OPM only processed 9,142, leaving the inventory backlog at the highest level since October with 24,858 claims. Read more

Right now the Supreme Court is hearing a case involving YouTube and the family of an American student fatally shot in a 2015 rampage by Islamist militants in Paris.
